The Vittoriale degli Italiani, how to plan your visit
Gabriele d’Annunzio’s home in Gardone Riviera: what to see, how long you need and why you should book the Prioria.
The Vittoriale degli Italiani is the citadel Gabriele d’Annunzio built in the hills of Gardone Riviera in the last years of his life. It is a complex of buildings, gardens, museums and mementos, including the bow of the ship Puglia set into the park.
The Prioria
The poet’s house is visited with a guided entry: book your time slot in advance, especially at weekends.
The park and museums
The park descends towards the lake through gardens, fountains and a small pond. The museums display objects, memorabilia and the story of the Fiume expedition.
How long you need
Allow at least half a day to see everything calmly. In summer the amphitheatre hosts evening concerts and shows.
